Michael DONOVAN

Olney, Ill April 16 - Word has been received from Anna, Il of the death of Michael DONOVAN of this city. The body is to be brought here and the funeral will probably be held at the Donovan home at 228 W. Main Street. Carroll Smith of the Porter Undertaking Establishment went to Anna to bring Mr. Donovan's body here. Mr. Donovan is survived by his wife and an aged sister at Crawfordsville, Ind. For many years Mr. Donovan conducted his farm south of Noble and engaged in his trade as a carpenter. He came to this county from Crawfordsville, indiana where he was a carpenter. Mr. Donovan was born in 1842. Educated with a view of the priesthood he decided to come to America when 15 and became employed at Crawfordsville Ind as a carpenter. Later he bought a farm near the Indiana city which he sold in 1885 and came to Richland County. He was married to Miss Susan Bressie of Washington Ind in 1875. In 1900 Mr. Donoval spent a year at Galveston Tx. He was there at the time of the flood and saved his own life and that of many others by his proficiency in swimming which he gained when a boy in Ireland. -- kbz
